Most people tend to do their keyword research in a completely wrong way, not because they are bad people, just because they have been misled over the years by all the “bites” of disinformation.

As a website owner, it is imperative for the success of your search engine to understand how to find keywords for a website, but it all starts with understanding how to search for keywords.

Well, maybe I don’t fall in love completely, but I am a simple man, so I will keep the keyword research process very simple for you, but only if you act on what I teach you.

Are we doing business?

I’m going to show you the THREE things I don’t make sure of when researching keywords. Yes, only three and these are the only three things you should watch out for when searching for keywords for your website.

It’s not easy to get into the minds of internet users when they search on Google. However, if you want to be sure you’re aiming correctly, you have to try to put yourself in the shoes of your potential customers.

You will be surprised to find that their expressions or their ways of describing your activity, service or products are sometimes very different from your own expressions. To convince yourself, do not hesitate to read the comments on your site and those of your competitors. Customer reviews are also an eternal source of inspiration, as are blogs and forums.

Think big and big: do you sell “shoes”? Selling “shoes” would certainly be more commendable, right? You are convinced that your “chronographs” are highly sought after by Internet users; unless you are a very large luxury brand, it would be in your best interest to offer “watches” to your potential targets.

The 3 main pillars of effective keyword research.

(1) LOW COMPETITION.

This is my first goal when researching keywords. If a keyword has too much competition, I don’t even consider it. The reason is that without being able to rank (and do so effectively), I know that I will not receive traffic.

So no classification = no point!

When I’m looking for a competition, I’m looking for a specific QSR metric call (known as quote search results). I only know of one tool that offers this data effectively, it is Jaaxy. And yes, this is the tool I use for my keyword research.

QSR allows you to determine the EXACT number of competing pages in Google …. which is your TRUE competition. I am for a QSR of less than 300 (i.e. 300 competing pages in Google), the closer to ZERO, the better.

(2) Must get TRAFFIC.

I do not prefer the keywords “homerun”, I will be satisfied with bunt monkeys all day if I can be classified. There is absolutely no sense in “trying” to get rankings under a high volume keyword, but with high competition. I won’t be ranked, then that gives a rat the amount of traffic it could potentially get.

I’m leaving for the sure thing. If a search term gets more than 50 searches per month, I go there. Yes, 50.

But Youness, does it seem really low? Yes, it’s pretty low but guess what. These low volume keywords add up when you start to rank them. Get the 1st-page rankings in the search engines under 10, or 20… .0u 100 of these and you will see.

AND, reduced competition, moderate traffic keywords are generally more relevant and convert better anyway. Another additional bonus.

The second pillar of keywords: more than 50 searches per month

(3) Must make a SENSE.

How embarrassing it is to try to fake the content together when using a nonsensical keyword. Take the title of this article as an example. My title makes sense and my targeted keywords fit naturally into the title. All of your keywords should do the same. Take a look at this example …

If I tried to use the first keyword, I would be hard-pressed. It just doesn’t make sense. So, as a general rule, if I feel like I’m forcing awkward content to target a keyword, I’m just not going to use it. This must make sense to people car remember, we write content for our audience, not search engines.

The third pillar of keywords: Must have meaning for being human!

Use free tools from Google.

If despite all this advice you are still lacking in inspiration, Google provides some practical keyword suggestion tools.

Adwords:

It’s a free tool from Google that allows you to come up with new keyword ideas from the main keyword. Previously Google offered a keyword generator (Adwords Keyword Tool). This is no longer the case, but you can still help yourself with Adwords suggestions. To start looking for keywords and validating their relevance is a simple method.

In the “Tools” tab, select the “Keyword planning tool”. Then type your words and validate.

In addition, Adwords lets you know an estimate of the traffic volume of a keyword. This is an interesting point when you study the potential of a word.

Related searches: at the bottom of the results page, Google offers you a list of related searches. These search phrases can give you ideas for creating new pages. These entities are recommendations made by the engine on the most relevant and useful results to Internet users to refine their search.

In the example below, you will notice that it can be interesting to create pages to position yourself on “cheap running shoes”, “how to choose running shoes”, “the best running shoes”.
